Pumpkin patch, painting, puking and other events of Oct '09

This is your basic update here. At the beginning of the month the kids and I went to Spooner farms with my family while Jake worked and picked out some pumpkins (which we have YET to carve) It was a really fun trip and some good quality time together, not to mention dinner at the new Sonics in Puyallup afterwards! Always a bonus.

Jack finally got his helmet and should be in it for four months or so. He tugged at it for about 5 or 10 minutes the first day and that was that. He now crawls around looking for things to run in to just to make a little noise. It gets stinky so we make sure to keep it clean. Now when I take it off to bathe him or change him, he looks funny without it.

We also started a mini-facelift at our place. Our project was to replace all of the pink blinds with white ones, frame out the exterior of the windows and paint all the trim and doors white instead of the pinkish rose/blue colors that just didn't work well anymore :) Here are some 'before' pics:

We just finished yesterday so the 'after' pics will be posted soon!

Jake's brother John was voted on to homecoming court at Olympic High and he asked Cooper to be his escort for the coronation. Kris, Brittney and I picked out some GQ for Coop and he was perfect. We all thought that if the voting for homecoming King happened after everyone was escorted in, John would have had it in the bag.

Jake was laid off from his job a little over a week ago. We knew it was coming so that makes it ok to deal with and he now gets to focus completely on Decclo. His first week home working was pretty good I think. It will be hard for him to get used to the noisy kids and all three of us walking in on him at random times throughout the day, but for the most part he got lots done already. His mom has been great with helping us out especially with the Quickbooks program. We also painted his office yesterday and have yet to finish putting the room back together but things are coming along well. (To see what we've been working on at Decclo, use the link on the sidebar)

I started playing on a competitive volleyball team this month and we've had so much fun so far. We have only lost one of our games which, I hate it when people say this but, we were truly robbed. It's fun to get back into a little competitiveness though and have a hubby who doesn't mind or complain about staying with the kids.

Today while at church in sunday school class (right after they announced in sacrament for families to stay home if anyone is sick) Jack puked all over the place. Well, all over Jake and a little on the poor lady sitting in front of us. We both put our hands up to catch it but he just kept puking. Thank heavens for all the people around us who went above and beyond and helped Jake in the bathroom, me in the classroom and everywhere in between. It truly is mortifying to have your kid throw up all over the place in a setting such as church but I think we got through it ok. Jack has been throwing up a couple of times this week but we're starting to think maybe it's a food aversion of some sort? He has had NO other signs of any type of illness, and how are we supposed to figure it out with a baby who still spits up/vomits on a regular basis? Oh well, such is the life of a mommy and dad.

For those who were there to witness the spectacular event (and probably smell it too) I don't think you have any worries for a bug of any sort. This has been the norm for a couple of weeks now. It mainly has happened at home though and of course the church puke was by far the biggest puke to date for him.

So, in a nutshell that's October so far. The plans for Halloween are this:

-Cooper has a new obsession which is Harryyy Pottaaaaa (call it Harry Potter and you'll be corrected quick by a smart-alec little two year old.) So, this is his costume for halloween this year. We have a broom stick and a wand but I need to get the actual outfit together.
-Jack has a helmet now so the ideas for a costume have been so cute from everyone. Obvious ones like a football or hockey player, a skydiver, speedracer, the michelin man, etc. Since I'm lame and lazy, I've decided on Casper the friendly ghost. Sounds easy enough right?

Next week is Halloween then the holiday season is here? What? This time last year was the end of my pregnancy which, as we all know, is the not so fun part and I just COULD NOT WAIT to be done. Where did the year go???

"When I Fall In Love"

Last night we went to an adult prom at our friend's house. We spent all week getting ready for it by seeking out old treasures for our 90s attire. No, it did not say "90s attire" on the invite but we thought for sure we wouldn't be the only ones who made a joke of it.

We thought wrong.

We pulled up the street blasting some BOSTON on my sis' sub woofer in order to set the mood and get into character. Right as we pulled in front of the house, we could see through all the windows all these beautiful people in gowns and tuxedos, corsages, twinkling lights, blue and silver ribbon all over....

The panic set in a little. But what were we gonna do?! Go home?! NO WAY! We stood tall and waltzed right through the door and had the most fun night ever!!!!! Besides another guy in a baby blue dumb and dumber tux, ruffles and all, Jake and I were the only ones who did not look anywhere close to upper class but we still cut loose and boogied all night and ate yummy food and had lots of fun with friends (we even brought some Dew to spike the punch, teehee.)

At the end of the night (probably because everyone felt embarrassed for us....) we were voted Prom King and Prom Queen.

Thanks Kanoe and Brandon and all the guests for an OH-SO-FABULOUS night!!!
And thanks to my sis Paige for watching our boys for a much needed night out to party!
